Advancing the Industry. Strengthening the Community.

About ACAP

The Association of Compliance and Audit Professionals (ACAP) is a dynamic professional community bringing together leaders and practitioners from across the financial services industry, including compliance, internal audit, enterprise risk, financial crime, legal, regulatory, advisory, and emerging technology disciplines.

Built on more than three decades of professional education, collaboration, and relationship-building, ACAP creates opportunities for professionals across the financial services ecosystem to connect with trusted peers, exchange perspectives, expand their knowledge, and grow throughout their careers.

As the industry evolves, so do we.

Our Evolution

More Than Three Decades of Connection, Learning and Growth.

Founded in 1992, the organization began as a not-for-profit trade association created to bring together internal audit professionals working within the U.S. operations of international banks.

As the industry evolved, so did the organization. In 2013, its identity expanded to become the Association of International Bank Audit and Compliance Professionals (AIBACP), formally recognizing the growing role of compliance professionals within its membership.

Today, financial services are transforming once again. Compliance responsibilities have expanded. Internal audit continues to evolve. Enterprise risk, financial crime, legal and regulatory matters increasingly intersect, while technology, FinTech, digital assets, and artificial intelligence are reshaping both the industry and the responsibilities of the professionals and organizations that serve it.

Our evolution from AIBACP to ACAP represents the next chapter in that journey.

The Association of Compliance and Audit Professionals honors the foundation established in 1992 while creating a broader community that reflects the increasingly interconnected nature of today’s financial services industry.

Our name has changed. Our commitment to our members has not.

Our Mission

Connecting Professionals. Advancing Knowledge. Building Community.

ACAP’s mission is to advance the knowledge, skills, relationships, and professional development of those working across compliance, audit, risk, and related disciplines throughout the financial services industry.

Building on more than three decades of professional education and peer exchange, ACAP provides a trusted forum where professionals can connect with one another, exchange ideas and experiences, learn from industry leaders and regulators, and strengthen the knowledge and relationships they need to succeed in an increasingly complex financial services environment.

Through educational programming, executive forums, networking opportunities, collaborative learning, and volunteer leadership, ACAP creates opportunities for members to broaden their perspectives, strengthen their expertise, advance professionally, and contribute to the future of the industry.

At the heart of that mission is a belief that has guided the organization since its founding:

Professionals are stronger when they learn from, and alongside, one another.

Our Legacy, Our Future
